...now

Emily Bear was born on August 30, 2001 in Rockford, Illinois.

When Emily was 2, her grandmother recognized her talent at the piano.

Thus, she began lessons with Emilio del Rosario (below center) at the Music Institute of Chicago.

Little 3-year-old Emily shocked her mentors when she began to compose as well. By the time she was 8 years old, Emily had composed over 350 songs!!! Emily won the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award for composers under 18 years of age for her piece entitled "Northern Lights", which she plays in the video below.

Emily says she just a normal girl who likes to play the piano ... she also likes her pets and swimming and tennis. Her parents encourage her to be a child.

Emily's family is a family of musicians with a grandmother (below) who teaches music, a mother who sings, a brother who plays guitar, and a sister who plays harp and piano.

Emily has performed at Carnegie Hall at least twice... the youngest artist to ever perform there!
